Grant Programs for Players and Organizations

Players and organizations in the Allegheny Mountain District are eligible for a number of grants or scholarships offered by the district board or by the Middle States Section. The grants to organizations and the Middle States grants to players are described in the pull-down menu above.

The AMD Player Travel Cost Grant Program is as follows:

Grants are designed to partially reimburse a few selected AMD junior and/or adult players who have distinguished themselves in international or national tennis events sanctioned by the USTA. The Grants and Scholarships Committee will select the finalists for this award and present these recommendations to the full board for its approval. This Committee will base its decisions primarily on need and on the caliber and success in high-level amateur or professional events. Other factors, such as success in previous years, may be considered.

  • Deadline for consideration is Nov. 1 of each year and the awards will be announced by Dec. 31 of each year.
  • The player must be a AMD/MS/USTA member in good standing at the time of this participation and application.
  • No player may receive more than $1,000 in any calendar year but may re-apply for a grant annually.

Player Travel Cost Grant Program

The Board of Directors of the USTA/Middle States/Allegheny Mountain District has voted to designate up to 40 percent of its Grants and Scholarships Budget each year to partially reimburse a few selected AMD junior and/or adult players who have distinguished themselves in international or national tennis events sanctioned by the USTA. The Grants and Scholarships Committee will select the finalists for this award and present these recommendations to the full board for its approval.

This Committee will base its decisions primarily on financial need and the success a player has achieved in high-level amateur and professional events. Other factors, such as success in previous years, may be considered.

· Deadline for applications will be Nov. 1 of each year.

· The player must be an AMD/MS/USTA member in good standing at the time of this participation and application.

· A letter explaining or substantiating a player’s financial need and the extent of their achievements in tennis may accompany the application.

· No player may receive more than $1,000 in any calendar year but may re-apply for a grant annually.

· The awards will be announced by Dec. 31 of each year.
