USTA/MS/AMD INTERDISTRICT ADULT TEAMS
AMD also sponsors a number of Interdistrict teams that compete against other district teams in a season-ending Middle States tournament each year. Here are how these teams are selected.:
PLAYERS shall be selected by the Interdistrict Captain of each age division based upon
the following factors:
1. Ranking: National, Sectional, District ranking for prior year and year-to-date.
2. Competitive results in sanctioned league play, NTRP tournaments and non-sanctioned
tournaments.
3. Previous relevant competitive experience, including but not limited to prior interdistrict,
intersectional and national team and/or championship play.
4. Captains may also take into account discretionary factors such as surface specialty, sportsmanship
and the ability to contribute to competitive team results.
CAPTAINS shall:
1. Respond to the inquiries of all players who express an interest in playing interdistrict competition.
2. Set aside a time and place for all players interested in participating in interdistrict competition.
3. Make an effort to balance two factors: (1) being inclusive of players, especially “new” players to interdistrict competition, with (2) putting together a team that will provide positive competitive results in representing the district.
4. At the completion of the event, Captains shall submit to the AMD Board the following information:
list of participants, results of competition, use and distribution of AMD funds.
