Adam Blasinski, Annie Baich Ranked No. 1 in AMD Singles for 2011

 
Adam Blasinski of Gibsonia and Annie Baich of Mt. Lebanon finished the AMD 2011 District Ranking year with the No. 1 rankings in Boys’ 18 and Girls 18 singles, respectively,  thanks to both winning the last tournament of the year, the Glen Creek Holiday Tournament.  There were close races in many of the age-gender divisons.
 
Blasinski teamed with Central Catholic teammate Michael Santa Lucia to finish No. 1 in Boys 18 doubles while /Megan Wasson of Fox Chapel finished No. 1 in Girls’ 18 Doubles with Oakland Catholic teammate Nicole Cyterski. Wasson also finished second in the division with partner Lucy Gloninger of Allison Park, the first time in recent memory that one player finished 1st and 2nd with different doubles partners in the same ranking year.

Some Notes on Boy’s Singles Draws
In the boy’s 16’s 1st and 2nd place are separated by only ONE point!!  Boy’s 12’s only 4 points different from 3rd place and 5th place. In boy’s 14’s, 2 point difference between 2nd and 3rd place.

Olivia Warner is 1 in the 12’s and tied for third in the 14’s. She played 38 matches in the 14’s and 20 matches in the 12’s. That is an incredible 58 USTA matches this year!
In the Girl’s 18’s, Annie Baich is 1 by 2 points over Rachel Klemash. These two girls met in the final of the Glen Creek Holiday Tournament this past week, and that match decided who was 1. Annie got 30 points for the win and Rachel got 20 points as a finalist.
